Change your Fate

It’s been a challenging 24 hours. My dad had open heart surgery yesterday-CABG x4. Surgery was successful, but recovery has been challenging. Took longer than expected to get him off the ventilator and he nearly coded in the afternoon.

Despite being extremely active-playing tennis and riding his bike most days-he has fallen victim to the SAD-Standard American Diet. He couldn’t accept that he could be of a normal weight, be physically fit, and still have Type-2 Diabetes.

Fortunately it’s not too late. In just one month of changing to a low carb/Keto-like diet, his Hemoglobin A1C has decreased from 8.6 to a 7.4. He will need to follow more of a #ketotarian approach and focus on healthy plant fats (olive oil, avocados, & nuts) rather than animal fats for his heart health.

Following my own genetics as revealed from family history and confirmed by testing #MindfulDNA @Genomind-I am able to change my own fate through #epigenetics. Our genes reveal our vulnerabilities and opportunities to optimize our health. It’s not too late to make a change. After all, as Jon Kabat-Zin says , If you’re breathing, there’s more right with you than wrong with you”.
